How the X-Ray Bar Works

On the left side of the screen, a column of squares waits. Each one hides a rounding problem. Dragging a square onto the x-ray bar reveals that problem, turning a concealed prompt into something you can read and solve. The bar acts as a temporary workspace: a holding area where the question sits until you decide on an answer. This two-step reveal keeps the focus on one problem at a time instead of overwhelming you with a full worksheet.

Matching Problems to Answers

Once a problem is visible on the bar, you determine the correct rounded value and drag the square to the matching answer on the right. A correct match earns points and moves you to the next problem. The right-side answers act as a fixed set of choices, so part of the challenge is scanning them accurately rather than computing in isolation. Because the game uses drag-and-drop, it works with a mouse on desktop or a finger on mobile touch screens.

Rounding Rules in Practice

The core skill is the standard rounding rule: look at the digit immediately to the right of the place you are rounding to. If that digit is 5 or greater, round up; if it is less than 5, round down. The game reinforces this by making you apply it repeatedly across different problems. Speed matters for scoring, but accuracy matters more, since a wrong match does not advance you. Playing regularly builds both confidence and fluency with place value.

Access and Audience

Rounding Numbers Math Puzzle runs directly in a browser with no downloads or installation. Full screen mode is available for a less cluttered view.
