Identifying Birds from Images

Each round presents a colorful bird photograph on the right side of the screen. The player's task is to recognize the species and spell its name using the available alphabet letters. The game covers both common and less familiar birds, so the recognition step is as important as the spelling itself. Because the image stays visible while letters are chosen, players can study markings, colors, and shape before committing to an answer.

Letter Selection and the Five-Life System

Spelling works by clicking individual letters from a set of options. Correct letters fill the blank spaces in the bird's name; wrong letters cost one of five lives. This design encourages deliberate choices rather than rapid guessing. When all blanks are filled, the round is complete. When lives reach zero, the game ends. The five-life limit is forgiving enough for children but still creates mild pressure to think before clicking.

Accessibility and Device Support

The game runs in a browser on any device, with no download or installation. A full-screen mode is available for a larger view of the bird images and letter options. Controls are limited to clicking or tapping, so no prior gaming experience is needed. The layout keeps the bird image and letter choices visible at the same time, which supports the identification-and-spelling loop without extra navigation.

Building Vocabulary Through Play

Repeated rounds expose players to bird names they may not encounter elsewhere, reinforcing spelling through active recall rather than passive reading. The combination of visual identification and letter selection means players practice two skills at once: recognizing a bird and constructing its name. Starting with familiar species builds confidence before moving to less common ones. The process-of-elimination approach works well when a letter is uncertain, since wrong choices have a clear cost.
